Longford Capital Adds Depth and Experience with the Addition of Registered Patent Attorney, Cindy S. Ahn, as Director

CHICAGO, November 1, 2017 - Longford Capital today announced that Cindy S. Ahn has joined the firm as a Director. Ms. Ahn will assist with investment sourcing, due diligence, and monitoring of portfolio investments.

Prior to joining Longford Capital, Ms. Ahn was a member of the Intellectual Property groups of some of the most prestigious law firms in the country: (1) Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP; (2) Kirkland & Ellis, LLP; (3) Schiff Hardin, LLP; and (4) Global IP Law Group, LLC.

Ms. Ahn also worked for Abbott Laboratories and served as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Third Wave Technologies, Inc., a publicly traded molecular diagnostics company.

For 19 years, Ms. Ahn has assisted companies in the licensing, sale, and enforcement of intellectual property rights in a wide array of industries, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, bio-similars, electronics, computers, software, telecommunications, medical devices, and many others.

Ms. Ahn has significant experience litigating complex intellectual property matters in federal courts throughout the United States, before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She has particular experience with Hatch-Waxman (“ANDA”) pharmaceutical patent cases.

“We previously worked with Cindy as outside counsel to help evaluate several investment opportunities. We select only the most meritorious cases for investment. Cindy supported several investments that went on to be resolved successfully for our clients and for Longford Capital. She has also steered us away from less attractive opportunities. Cindy is a seasoned patent lawyer with decades of experience. Her background in biology and pharmaceutical patents enables her to communicate effectively with technical personnel, including doctors, chemists, scientists, inventors, and expert witnesses. She knows our business and adds depth and experience to our team, and we are excited to welcome Cindy to Longford Capital,” stated Michael A. Nicolas, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Longford Capital.

Ms. Ahn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Illinois and graduated from American University Washington College of Law, cum laude, and was a member of The American University Law Review. She is admitted to practice in Illinois, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin, and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Ms. Ahn is a Registered Patent Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
